MINUTES OF N.I.D.A. CLUB NIGHT HELD ON THURSDAY 6th NOVEMBER 2008 
AT St. BRIGID's CHURCH HALL AT 8-00PM

 

13/08 WELCOME

Chairperson Renee Gibson welcomed all to the meeting and stated that the club nights were once more being held in St Brigid’s Church hall.

14/08 APOLOGIES

Apologies were received for Robert & Joyce Newell, Robert & Lilian Newell, John & Helen Gillespie, Chris & Myrna Wells

15/08 MINUTES OF LAST MEETING

The 7th February 08 club night minutes were read approved & signed as a true record, proposed by Bruce Irvine and seconded by Jimmy Laughlin.

16/08 MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES

George Swann asked for an explanation of Club H.Q. request that groups of members travelling under their own arrangements should not use the Club name. Chairperson gave the reasons for this to the meeting.

Jim Kilpatrick (Sen.) thanked the members for cards and phone calls he had received during his recent illness

20/08 REGION REPORT

There will be a Camping & Caravanning Club stand at the Holiday World show in 2009 in the Kings Hall.

N.I. Region stressed that the complaints procedure was:- the D/A concerned, then N.I. Region, then H.Q. if necessary.

N.I. Region Rally will be at Ballymena Show Grounds from 21st-25th May 09.  Region A.G.M. will be on Saturday morning at 10-00am.

DA’s wanting to make use of Bouncy Castles must carry Third Party Insurance not under £10 mil.

2 vacancies for 3 years will be available on Region Council.

The F.I.C.C. Rally will be in Ipswich, Suffolk on 31st July - 9th August 2009

The Club’s  Out & About magazine will return to monthly issue in 2009.

The youth F.I.C.C. Rally 2009 will be held in Spain at a cost of £400 per youth - information to R.Y.L.O. by January 2009.

The N.F.O.L. Rally will be at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire on 20-24th August 09

Elma Kilpatrick was proposed by Renee Gibson and seconded by Michael Henshaw to continue as N.I. Region Treasurer

Brian Willis, whose nomination for the post of R.Y.L.O. was proposed by Kathleen Moorhead, seconded by Meryl Carter, is now in post.

County Down D.A. dinner dance will be on Friday 30th January 2009.  Bangor D.A. dinner dance will be on Friday 20th February 2009

Camping & Caravanning Club band are getting a new uniform.

21/08 TREASURER'S REPORT..

The Treasurer not being present at the meeting, a proxy report was read out, and a discussion took place on ways to benefit members from any excess balance. Chairperson said that this would be discussed at the next meeting with the Treasurer in attendance.

22/08 DINNER DANCE

N.I.D.A. dinner dance will be in Michelin Social Club, Broughshane Rd, Ballymena on Friday 5th December 08.  Tickets £20.  Overnight with caravan is available.

23/08 JANUARY CLUB NIGHT

Will be in St Brigid’s Church Hall, Ballyclare Rd, Glengormley on the 8th January 09 at 8-00pm.  The evening’s entertainment will be square dancing.

24/08 FEBRUARY CLUB NIGHT

Will be in St Brigid’s Church Hall on 5th February 09 when N.I.D.A. will host the Inter D.A. Quiz.  Invite letters will be sent to Bangor and County Down DAs

25/08 A.G.M.

Will be in Carrickfergus Golf Club on the Saturday 7th February 09 at 3-00pm. A meal (bookable) will be available after the meeting at approx. 6-00pm.

26/08 A.O.B.

Jim Kilpatrick (Jun.) told the members that N.I.D.A. Website was doing well with the number of hits it was receiving but to keep it an interesting Website, it needed a lot more input from the members.

Bruce Irvine told the members that the sale of Pennons had been dropping of in latter years to the point were it was no longer viable to order them for re-sale.  After discussion the members decided to discontinue the sale of Rally Pennons - this was proposed by George Harrison and seconded by Jimmy Laughlin.

The meeting, after hearing about some old and no longer used N.I.D.A. equipment, agreed to dispose of this to a suitable charity (Northern Ireland International Children Charity appeal).  Some kitchen utensils will be given to St Brigid’s – proposed by Dorothy Hetherington, seconded by Jackie Mann.

Dorothy Hetherington told the meeting that a previous Warden at Delamont Club Site, a Mr Watkinson who had to leave through ill health, was now keeping much better.

George and Anne Harrison offered to manage a better attempt at re-cycling of material at N.I.D.A. meets.

During the evening the members congratulated the Chairperson on the award she had recently received for her work with Senior Citizens and the N.I. Hospice.

Business finished at 9-40pm

MINUTES OF N.I.D.A. CLUB NIGHT HELD ON THURSDAY 7th FEBRUARY 2008 
AT BALLYCLARE PRIMARY SCHOOL AT 8-00PM

 

01/08 WELCOME

New Chairperson Renee Gibson welcomed the members to the meeting and thanked all for coming. She spoke of how proud she was to be elected to this office within N.I.D.A.

She asked the members to help herself and the committee by bringing any ideas or complaints to the notice of herself or a committee member. She then apologised to the meeting, as due to a prior engagement she would have to leave early.

Apologies were received for John & Helen Gillespie, Dorothy Hetherington, George & Myrtle McClean, John Gibson and George Graham.

 

03/08 MINUTES
The minutes of the January Club Night were read and approved as a true record, proposed by Lilian Newell and seconded by Bruce Irvine.

08/08 REGION REPORT
The N.I. Region meeting was on 4th February 2008.

 

N.I. Region complimented Jim Kilpatrick on the good job in setting up the N.I.D.A. website, and reminded N.I.D.A. that the website must be registered each year with Camping and Caravanning Headquarters on the 1st March.

 

A memorial service will be held in Coventry Cathedral on Thursday 28th February 08 at 2-00pm for Mr David Welsford. N.I. Region will ask the three D.A.s to donate something to the memorial fund.

 

There were 123 new members joined the C&C Club at the Holiday World Exhibition in January 08.

 

Groups of members going on holiday not booked through Carefree must not use the C&C Club name.

 

The Scottish Region has sent an invitation to our 3 D.A.s to join them at their Region Rally on 1st-5th May 2008 at Balodo Activity Centre (info. from Chris Wells). Next year we will invite the Scottish Region to join us at our Regional Rally.

 

The drainage at Delamont Club Site is to be attended to.

 

Design submissions for the N.I. Region Pennon competition have to be with Mervyn Best by the 7th April 2008.

 

Stewards in charge of and lifting monies for a week-end meet site, must stay the duration of the meet.

 

Anyone wishing to nominate someone for the Young Achievers Award (contact Chris Wells).

 

09/08 TREASURER'S REPORT
The Treasurer read out to the members N.I.D.A.’s financial standing at this time.

 

10/08 INTER D.A. QUIZ
The  N.I.D.A. team for the quiz will be Norman Moorhead, Vivienne Robinson, Jim Kilpatrick (Jun.) & Elma Kilpatrick.  It will be necessary to let County Down D.A. know the number of spectators going from N.I.D.A.

 

11/08 AUDITORS
As 2 more Auditors were needed to join Harry Marsden, Ewan McCullough and Iris Graham (standby ) were appointed.

 

12/08 A. O. B.
As the newly elected committee at the A.G.M. ended up as an odd number, it was decided to opt on another member to committee to even up the number. Bruce Irvine will be opted on at the next N.I.D.A. committee meeting.
 
The venue for the N.I.D.A. Dinner dance in November 2008 will be changed, alternatives will be investigated during the year.
 
Mr Jack Moore donated some old Pennons to N.I.D.A. and a letter of thanks will be sent to him for this generous gift.
 
The fixture list for the weekend meets in 2008 will be printed after the last AGM of the D.A.s.
 
As the Caretaker of Ballyclare Primary School is retiring soon, it is possible that the school will not be available to N.I.D.A. on the dates we require it. Dorothy Robinson is to investigate another venue in Ballyclare and report back to the Committee. The retiring Caretaker was given a present from N.I.D.A. in appreciation of his help to us over the years. 
 
Jim Kilpatrick spoke to the members about the DA website and said it was proving quite popular by the number of hits it was receiving. He reminded the members they had to keep putting information into it. He told the meeting that it was N.I.D.A.'s responsibility to re-register the N.I.D.A. website with Club Headquarters on the 1st March each year.
 
Norman Moorhead spoke to the members about the difficulty of obtaining sites for week-end meets. He asked for suggestions from the members to be forwarded to him for next year - hockey clubs, RFCs, schools etc. He asked the members that when they put their name down to attend a 'bookable' weekend meet that they let him know in good time if they are not going to use their booking. It is possible a booking fee may be charged in future.
 
Anne Johnston asked if the weekend meets and the directions to them could be made available on the website to help members choose which meet to attend. This will be taken up by committee.

MINUTES OF N.I.D.A. CLUB NIGHT HELD ON THURSDAY 3RD JANUARY 2008  AT BALLYCLARE PRIMARY SCHOOL AT 7-30 PM

00/08  WELCOME
Chairman J.Gillespie welcomed all to the evening, and then spoke about some of the forthcoming events for N.I.D.A. in 2008, e.g. the A.G.M., the Inter D.A. Quiz., Bangor D.A. dinner dance and the imminent opening of the N.I.D.A. Website.

Webmaster J. Kilpatrick gave some details on how the website would open and told the members that it would only be as good as the information that they put into it.

V/Chairman N.I. Region M.Best asked for all N.F.O.L. entry forms to be sent to N.I. Region by the end of February 2008.                

The Chairman then handed over to K.Moorhead who was organising the entertainment for the evening.

B.Irvine provided the music for a short sing-a-long, and Humpty & Dumpty amused the crowd.

K.Moorhead introduced J.Craig as “Eammon Andrews” who would present the show “This Is Your Life”.  Eammon's surprise personality (victim) was Renee Gibson.

Family members, friends and various guests paid their tributes to Renee in a very enjoyable show.

Supper was taken about 9-15 and the evening ended about 10-00pm.

Programme to be arranged by Kathleen Moorhead, with an early start time of 7.30 for the evening.

 

16/07  A.G.M.
This meeting will be held in Carrickfergus Golf Club on the 2nd February 2008 at 3-00pm. A meal will be available after the meeting.

 

17/07  FEBRUARY CLUB NIGHT
This Club Night will be arranged by the new committee.

 

18/07  A.O.B.
The Chairman spoke about N.I.D.A. entering a team in the Inter D.A. Quiz which will be hosted by  County Down D.A. on the 11th March 2008 at Manor Court Hall, Mill Street, Newtownards.

 

He also reminded anyone wanting the D.A. “Flyer”to see Tommy Weir.

 

Bangor D.A. dinner dance will be on the 22nd February 08 ( no venue as yet).

 

The meeting decided at this present time not to replace the Pennon that was stolen at Portrush.

 

Attendance at week-end meets over the season has been very good except for some of the Rally meets where "numbers of units and participation in the programmes" has been falling off.

 

The meeting decided to combine the F.O.L. Rally with the Halloween Rally at Moneymore and to cut down the catering at all Rallies on a trial basis.

Jim Kilpatrick put on a slide show of his interpretation of what an N.I.D.A. Web Site would look like. This was very impressive and after Jim said that he would look after the updating of the Web Site as Webmaster it was agreed by the members to process this matter through N.I. Region and Club Headquarters. Proposed by Dorothy Hetherington and seconded by George Harrison.

Chairman thanked Jim for his presentation, the ladies for the supper and all the members for coming.
